If you are selected to do a presentation at the AMUG North initial meeting. Please keep the following thoughts in mind as you do your planning.
Due to limited time, 10 minutes MAXIMUM will be alloted for each presentation.
6 minutes of actual presentation time
2 minutes to wrap up
2 minutes to answer questions while the next presenter prepares.
We realize that this is extremely tight! So don't try to "teach" the programs involved...mearly discuss each area of software in the broadest possible terms. For example, the presenter in the Word Processing area might start by discussing why word processing is different from typewriting, load and BRIEFLY demo MacWrite. Then discuss the added capabilities of higher end programs like Word 3.0 or Fullwrite Professional. Again, THESE ARE NOT TRAINING SESSIONS! Just quick overviews for the person un-familiar with the Macintosh.
Most of the audience probably won't know the Font/DA mover from a programmers switch so an ounce of preparation can make you look like a real Macintosh Guru!!!
One last note.
We all know that the Mac is the hottest personal computer going! These new potential members are just beginning to explore the possibilities. In these presentations, a pound of enthusiasm is worth a ton of polished speaking technique. Get excited!
